Hiking

Nature Adventure Long-distance trails
Ideal for:
Hikers Families Groups

Some paths are walked with your feet; others stay etched in your memory. In the Arribes del Duero, every trail is a story of granite, water and silence that begs to be walked slowly.

What you'll experience

From gentle routes among vineyards and centuries-old olive groves to demanding descents to the bottom of the canyons, the Arribes offer trails for every level. You'll walk to viewpoints hanging over the river, cross stone villages frozen in time, and reach spots like the Pozo de los Humos, a double waterfall of nearly 50 metres that roars after the rains.

Why here, in the Arribes

This is one of the last truly wild corners of inland Spain: a natural park and Biosphere Reserve where, over millions of years, the Duero has carved granite walls more than 200 metres high. Walking here isn't exercise — it's stepping into a landscape that feels from another time.

Highlights
  • Trails for every level, from family strolls to technical stretches like the Camino de Hierro
  • The Pozo de los Humos: a double waterfall of nearly 50 metres with a hanging viewpoint
  • The Fraile and Las Barrancas viewpoints, above the largest dam in Spain
  • Local guides who know every path

And at the end of the day, you head back to La Rueca: to a hot dinner, a shower and the whole group gathered, sharing the day. The perfect base camp for losing yourself in the Arribes.

Ruta destacada

A circular trail that starts at the Medieval Bridge of Fariza and winds through the Valdelafalla hills along the Pisón stream. From there it climbs to the Ermita del Castillo, perched on an ancient hill fort with sweeping views. The unmissable finale is the Mirador de las Barrancas, where the Duero gorge and the Portuguese landscape unfold before you.
